A wonderful 14 day gastronomic tour (Aromas y Sabores) ended on June 5th, in Mazatlán, after 9,000 kilometers of travel through the northern states of México. Led by the renowned México gourmand, Chef Patricia Quintana, international press, media, and food critics enjoyed the scents and flavors of this city's finest foods and restaurant cuisine. The group enjoyed an amazing culinary experience in the colonial town of El Quelite and culminated with a spectacular dinner at Casa Garcia in the Historic Center of Mazatlan. The third annual Sacred Mayan Crossing was celebrated in honor of the courageous Mayan seamen. The crossing was a re-creation of the pilgrimage undertaken by the Mayans of the Yucatan. Thirty canoes with crews of six to ten crossed the Cozumel channel from "Pole" (today Xcaret) to the island of "Cuzamil". Hundreds of people witnessed this ritual with dances, and ceremonies including the traditional offering to the goddess, Ixchel.
